John C. Dray was 45 years old and married to Andalucia Doud when he joined the Trumbull Guards on November 9, 1862. He served in the Company until the end of the War. The Trumbull Guards, organized in the county but headquartered at Gallipolis, protected Ohio's border with Virginia.
